Supporting West Bank farmers, preserving food systems, and advocating for Palestinian food sovereignty through mutual aid, education and solidarity.
Roots of Resilience
Roots of Resilience exists to foster mutual aid and solidarity with farmers in the West Bank. Our mission is to directly support Palestinian farmers, strengthen and preserve traditional food systems, and advocate for food sovereignty.
Through educational programs both in the US and in Palestine, we aim to uplift communities by raising awareness and sharing stories that reflect the resilience, culture, and heritage of Palestinian agriculture. Together, we work to sustain the land, the people, and the future of Palestinian farming and food traditions.

Lana Mustafa, the founder of Roots of Resilience, is a Palestinian-American farmer, beekeeper, and mother of three. She was raised between New Jersey and Mukhmas, a falahi (farming) village in the West Bank where her family has tended their land for generations. Her deep connection to the land and nature is central to her work, and she deeply believes in land sovereignty as a path to Palestinian liberation. Lana founded Roots of Resilience in 2024, to empower and support Palestinian farmers in sustaining their livelihoods and protecting their heritage.
In addition to her work with Roots of Resilience, Lana is also the Executive Director of Montclair Community Farms, where she leads efforts in community engagement, urban farming and education to promote access to affordable, healthy food.
